Senior Business Data Analyst (Financial Services)

What you will do

• Lead the documentation, cataloguing, and validation of complex data requirements across existing and redesigned business processes.
• Investigate source systems and assess upstream and downstream data flows, dependencies, and interdependencies.
• Translate data requirements into measurable business outcomes, technical specifications, User Stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Work with data engineering teams to convert validated requirements into sustainable data products.
• Lead data quality assessments and apply enterprise data governance frameworks.
• Influence business SMEs, Product Owners, Data Owners, and senior stakeholders on data definitions, priorities, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven expertise combining business analysis, data analysis, and data cataloguing.
• Experience analysing source systems and validating complex data requirements.
• Strong Agile experience, including writing User Stories and defining acceptance criteria.
• Knowledge of enterprise data platforms, semantic models, dimensional modelling, star schemas, ETL processes, and data pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL for data validation and analysis, plus familiarity with data visualisation tools and cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience in financial services; exposure to Life operations and a plc environment is advantageous.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Snowflake, Azure, Databricks, and Power BI.
• Experience translating complex data requirements into technical specifications for Life operations.
