Senior Software Engineer (Satellite Mission Planning)

Company

Sateliot is a Barcelona-based satellite company developing a 5G NTN satellite network that enables standard commercial devices to connect directly from space through NB-IoT and mobile network operators.

What you will do

• Define the requirements and technical models for service and mission planning by working with network, satellite, and service engineering specialists.
• Design and implement the planning system as a hands-on technical lead.
• Build short, demonstrable iterations and grow the development squad as the system and roadmap evolve.
• Develop fast and auditable methods for reconciling service demand with satellite and ground infrastructure capacity.
• Collaborate with operational teams responsible for service KPIs, satellite integrity, network behavior, and 3GPP NTN concepts of operation.

Requirements

• Seven or more years of senior software engineering experience designing and deploying resilient production systems.
• Deep proficiency in at least one backend language, such as Python, Go, Java, or C++.
• Significant experience with scheduling, planning, constraint-based optimisation, or similarly complex systems.
• Experience taking technical responsibility for a system from early concept through production and revisiting priorities as understanding improves.
• Ability to extract and clarify complex requirements from non-technical domain experts.
• Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite operations, mission planning, ground segment, or aerospace software.
• Telecommunications or mobile network experience, especially 3GPP NTN, radio resource management, beam and channel allocation, or link planning.
• Background in distributed systems, event-driven architecture, cloud, simulation, digital twins, or optimisation solvers.
• Experience introducing first-of-its-kind systems into live operational environments through staged delivery.
