Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Fully remote from anywhere in Brazil; start the workday at 7:00 Brazil local time to overlap with the European engineering team.

What you will do

• Own backend development end to end, including technology selection, architecture design, and feature implementation.
• Build and scale the auction backend serving more than 40,000 buyers across over 20 countries and supporting 130,000 vehicles sold annually.
• Use coding agents, LLMs, and AI-assisted development as part of the daily engineering workflow.
• Define code quality benchmarks, development practices, and CI/CD standards with cross-functional partners.
• Mentor engineers, raise backend engineering standards, and challenge ineffective technical approaches.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years focused on backend development.
• Deep TypeScript proficiency with strong Node.js, NestJS, and PostgreSQL experience.
• Proven experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering practices.
• Strong command of Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Scrum or Kanban, JIRA, and Confluence.
• C1-level English or above for daily written and spoken communication with an international team.

Nice to have

• Experience with WebSockets or other real-time systems.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Lucene, or similar search frameworks.
• Automotive or B2B trading experience.
