Location: Morrisville, North Carolina; San Jose, California; or Waltham, Massachusetts, United States. The role has hybrid working expectations with some level of in-office or in-person attendance.
Salary: $196,350β$292,600 per year, with compensation determined by location, qualifications, experience, and education.

What you will do
- Design and develop scalable, resilient, high-performance infrastructure components across storage, networking, virtualization, and Linux systems.
- Drive architecture and technical direction for software-defined storage, virtualization infrastructure, and distributed cloud platform subsystems.
- Architect and optimize storage and networking data paths for performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership for KVM/QEMU, hypervisor integrations, virtual networking, storage virtualization, and infrastructure orchestration.
- Lead resolution of complex challenges involving distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and enterprise storage.
- Influence technical direction through architecture reviews, design leadership, cross-functional collaboration, mentoring, and technology evaluation.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in systems software engineering, distributed infrastructure, virtualization, storage systems, or cloud infrastructure development.
- Expert-level C/C++ programming skills and strong proficiency in Python.
- Deep expertise in Linux internals, kernel technologies, systems architecture, concurrency, memory management, and performance engineering.
- Experience designing distributed storage systems, software-defined infrastructure platforms, or cloud-native infrastructure services.
- Deep knowledge of KVM/QEMU, virtio, hypervisors, virtual storage, virtual networking, storage subsystems, networking, kernel development, or device drivers.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI, plus technical leadership of large cross-functional initiatives.
Nice to have
- Experience architecting enterprise-scale storage operating systems such as ONTAP or similar platforms.
- Experience with infrastructure modernization or platform transformation initiatives.
- Contributions to open-source systems software, kernel, virtualization, storage, or cloud infrastructure projects.
- Advanced cloud certifications or equivalent recognized expertise.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.
