Software Engineer II - Engineering Services (Full Stack)

What you will do

• Design, build, publish, version, and maintain single-click apps for the BigCommerce App Marketplace.
• Develop backend services with Node, TypeScript, and PHP and frontend interfaces with React.
• Integrate with BigCommerce REST and GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and OAuth-based installation flows.
• Build extensible, performant features for applications serving many merchant stores.
• Monitor production health, troubleshoot issues, and resolve merchant-impacting bugs.
• Contribute to merchant data migration projects, including scripting, validation, and cutover.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on backend experience with Node/TypeScript and/or PHP, plus frontend experience with React and Next.js.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and services, including REST, GraphQL, webhooks, and OAuth.
• Understanding of multi-tenant applications, performance, data isolation, and upgrade considerations.
• Ability to context-switch across concurrent projects, learn unfamiliar codebases, and communicate technical concepts to non-engineering stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience, or completion of a comprehensive software engineering boot camp.

Nice to have

• Experience with ecommerce platforms, BigCommerce APIs, or marketplace and app-store distribution models.
