Java Engineer (Banking)

Location: Manila (One Ayala Tower 2)

What you will do

• Develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications using Java 17 and Java 21.
• Design and implement Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs, and enterprise integration solutions.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases, queries, and data models.
• Write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation with Azure DevOps.
• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize application performance, and implement long-term improvements.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, DevOps engineers, quality engineers, and developers in an Agile environment.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in Java development, including Java 17 and/or Java 21.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, the Spring Framework, microservices architecture, REST APIs, and backend services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL development, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Git-based source control and Azure DevOps repositories, pipelines, and deployment workflows.
• Understanding of CI/CD, object-oriented programming, design patterns, clean coding principles, and Agile/Scrum practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, application support, automated testing frameworks, and code quality tools.
• Knowledge of application performance tuning and secure software delivery.
• Experience supporting release and deployment activities.
• Exposure to payment systems and financial services environments.
