Backend Engineer (Java) - KYC Tech

Location: Asia; remote

What you will do

• Convert business requirements into backend services with solid code and meaningful tests.
• Build and maintain services for a large-scale KYC platform and customer onboarding experience.
• Tune performance and troubleshoot production incidents.
• Write technical documentation and advocate for engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and mentor junior developers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 4 years of professional experience building high-throughput distributed applications.
• Strong proficiency in core Java and the Spring Framework.
• Strong proficiency in MySQL and familiarity with at least one NoSQL database.
• Knowledge of distributed system design and at least one messaging middleware.
• Ability to collaborate with a remote team across different time zones.

Nice to have

• JVM, SQL, or RPC performance tuning experience.
• Experience in KYC or compliance.
