Reporter, Defense (Business & Capital)

Location: Remote within the United States; salary eligibility varies by U.S. location.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, excluding additional compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Contribute to a bi-weekly newsletter covering major defense business trends and news.
• Break news on venture capital, startups, mergers and acquisitions, public companies, procurement, and defense finance.
• Explain how Pentagon priorities, procurement changes, and industrial policy affect investments and corporate strategy.
• Develop deep subject-matter expertise on the businesses and capital transforming the defense industry.
• Represent the publication as a public authority through stage appearances and live interviews.

Requirements

• Reporting experience in a fast-paced news environment.
• Experience landing significant scoops and developing original story ideas.
• Strong writing skills for digital journalism and newsletters.
• Ability to command a stage and conduct live interviews.
• Experience collaborating across teams to produce high-quality content.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
