Senior Mechanical Ground Systems Engineer (f/m/d) (Aerospace)

Location: Parsdorf, Bavaria, Germany; travel to construction and test sites is required for on-site coordination.

What you will do

• Own mechanical subsystems within larger ground systems and launch infrastructure projects.
• Manage subsystem requirements, stakeholder interfaces, engineering changes, and architectural trade-offs.
• Design and analyze mechanical and structural systems using CAD, calculation tools, and numerical simulations.
• Create manufacturing and integration drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with external suppliers and engineering departments, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Plan commissioning activities, support operations crews, and conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Experience with system-level mechanical architecture for complex ground support or launch infrastructure.
• Advanced experience with 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX, including GD&T.
• Strong mechanical design and analysis experience across structures, mechanisms, pressure systems, fluid interfaces, and dynamic environments.
• Fluent English, strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to mentor engineers and work effectively under changing priorities.

Nice to have

• Fluent German.
• Knowledge of rocket propulsion, test facilities, launchpad design, or process plant engineering.
• Structural, thermal, or vibration analysis experience with Ansys, NASTRAN, or similar tools.
• Hydraulic system design experience or experience with outdoor and offshore systems.
