AIT Intern (Aerospace)

TL;DR

AIT Intern (Aerospace): Supporting the qualification of thermo-mechanical processes and preparation of integration and testing for the Nyx reusable orbital vehicle with an accent on thermal control systems, test planning, and qualification procedures. Focus on designing test sequences, preparing test coupons and tooling, coordinating stakeholders, and improving integration processes through operational lessons learned.

Location: Onsite in Munich, Germany. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship may be provided where applicable.

The Exploration Company develops, produces, and operates Nyx, a modular and reusable orbital vehicle designed to carry cargo and potentially humans.

What you will do

• Define qualification plans and integration and test sequences for thermo-mechanical processes.
• Support qualification testing of bonding, sensor calibration, and foam fixation processes.
• Prepare test plans, procedures, and test coupons, coordinating internal and external stakeholders.
• Support Active Thermal Control System integration and testing.
• Procure tools and parts required for testing and factory setup activities.
• Improve qualification, integration, and test procedures using lessons learned from previous operations.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent field.
• Experience with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX.
• Experience writing procedures using a MES and managing inventory with an ERP.
• Strong practical, organized, independent, rigorous, and problem-solving approach.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and communicate effectively across business levels.
• Willingness to help build and support a new team in a growing company.

Nice to have

• Experience with thermal setup and testing.
• Experience in a cleanroom environment.
• Experience with fluidic or harness routing in Siemens NX.
