Senior Software Engineer - Storage

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $243,290–$295,250 USD annually, plus potential equity compensation.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate internal Infrastructure-as-a-Service offerings on container orchestration platforms.
• Scale distributed 24/7 services supporting storage needs such as caching and message queues.
• Build frameworks and tools for development, testing, cluster management, monitoring, and service automation.
• Collaborate with partner teams on project plans, metrics, milestones, rollout plans, alerts, and runbooks.
• Improve service reliability, availability, cost efficiency, elasticity, SLAs, and end-to-end rollout time.
• Influence the strategy for future product features and system capabilities.

Requirements

• Strong experience designing, delivering, and operating large-scale distributed systems handling billions of real-time requests per second.
• Experience operating active/active distributed systems on Kubernetes or Nomad and using service discovery systems such as Consul.
• Strong programming experience with Go, Java, or C++.
• Strong scripting and test automation abilities.
• Experience with telemetry and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, AlertManager, and Kibana.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience, with at least five years of hands-on experience.
