Sr. Vacuum Equipment Engineer - Early Career (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite at the Bloomington, Minnesota, United States campus.

Estimated base salary: $94,000–$117,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and deploy deposition, reactive etching, annealing, and other vacuum manufacturing equipment.
• Oversee equipment issues, scrap reduction, maintenance paths, cycle-time improvements, installations, upgrades, and repairs.
• Build factory automation and systematic tool-control methods using C#, Python, or R.
• Implement KPIV controls, OCAPs, preventive-maintenance instructions, manufacturer training plans, and equipment safety improvements.
• Use Six Sigma, design of experiments, and statistical analysis to improve tool performance and reduce variability.
• Maintain equipment-control documentation and provide technical support to manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering teams.

Requirements

• Experience with wafer manufacturing and semiconductor production equipment.
• Hands-on familiarity with vacuum tooling and processes such as PVD, CVD, ALD, ion beam milling, ICP etching, or annealing in high- to ultra-high-vacuum environments.
• Knowledge of design of experiments, statistical analysis, Six Sigma, and tools such as JMP or Minitab.
• Experience with AI, machine learning, computer hardware, and/or programming.
• PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical or electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, cross-functional collaboration skills, and availability for after-hours support as needed.
