TL;DR
Chemist (Analytical Chemistry/Quality Control): Performs physical, chemical, and instrumental testing of raw materials, bulk products, and finished products with an accent on laboratory analysis, cGMP documentation, and quality release support. Focus on operating analytical instruments, investigating out-of-specification results, reviewing data, and maintaining reliable testing practices in an onsite manufacturing laboratory.

Location: Onsite in Opelika, Alabama, United States. This role does not provide immigration sponsorship or support, including the Form I-983 STEM OPT training plan.

Salary: $52,000–$84,000 per year, plus potential annual performance bonus and benefits.

What you will do

  • Perform physical, chemical, and instrumental testing of raw materials, bulk products, and finished products for quality control release, investigations, stability studies, and development work.
  • Use techniques including density, specific gravity, loss on drying, particle size, titration, FT-NIR, Raman, moisture, dissolution, and UV testing.
  • Operate qualified analytical instruments such as NMR, GC, HPLC, ICP-OES, and ICP-MS.
  • Document test data and results in accordance with hirify.global methods and cGMP laboratory notebook requirements.
  • Support peer data review, investigational testing, material preparation, and laboratory instrument calibration.
  • Maintain the laboratory, report out-of-specification results promptly, and communicate effectively with colleagues during shift handoffs.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biology, or a related science.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry and analytical laboratory operations.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, communicate clearly, and maintain close attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with data entry and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently, perform repetitive manipulative tasks, use required PPE, and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Opelika, Alabama, and must already have work authorization because immigration sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

  • Experience using auto titrators, balances, UV, FTIR, HPLC, GC, or ICP.
  • Knowledge of PLM, LIMS, or similar laboratory systems.
  • Prior laboratory experience.
