Software Developer II (PKI)

Location: Hybrid in Ottawa, Ontario, with three days per week in the office. No relocation.

Salary: CAD 86,000–126,000 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test components for PKI and cryptographic products.
• Build backend systems and services using C, C++, and/or Java.
• Implement certificate management, key management, and secure communications features.
• Implement and validate cryptographic algorithms and protocols, including X.509, TLS, CMP, and OCSP.
• Contribute to post-quantum cryptography experimentation, prototyping, and productization.
• Adopt AI tools and practices in the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• At least two years of programming experience in C/C++ and/or Java.
• Working knowledge of PKI concepts and cryptographic algorithms.
• Experience contributing to research projects, open-source projects, or advanced academic work.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix or Windows development environments.
• Familiarity with Agile practices, code reviews, and version control systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with hirify.global PKI products.
• Experience with cryptographic libraries and open-source modules such as OpenSSL and OQS.
• Exposure to TLS, X.509, and certificate enrollment protocols.
• Experience planning, developing, and testing with AI tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex technical domains.
