Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States

Salary: $184,500–$258,000 total cash annually; performance-based pay may increase compensation up to $295,000.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve scalable machine learning systems and services, including low-level system design, APIs, and data models.
• Own machine learning features and platforms end to end, from problem framing and feature engineering through evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
• Translate business and customer problems into production ML solutions and integrate models into services and applications.
• Improve experimentation, validation, observability, security, reliability, and performance across ML services.
• Lead technical design discussions and mentor engineers and data practitioners.
• Integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions for real-world travel products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or another modern programming language, with expertise in software engineering, system design, API design, data modeling, and ML fundamentals.
• Experience with service-oriented or microservice architectures, APIs, large-scale data pipelines, and secure, reliable ML-backed services.
• Production experience operating ML workflows, monitoring model and data health, responding to incidents, and improving systems based on feedback.

Nice to have

• Experience architecting distributed ML platforms for high-volume, low-latency prediction or large-scale batch inference.
• Experience leading technical design and balancing model complexity, performance, and operational cost.
• Experience with observability, model CI/CD, feature stores, model registries, and performance or cost optimization.
• Experience with distributed training, modern ML platforms, inference optimization, experimentation, model retraining, versioning, and rollout strategies.
