Staff Simulation Engineer (Robotics)

Salary: $198,600–$292,000 USD per year, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Architect and implement an end-to-end simulation stack for aerial autonomy.
• Develop high-fidelity flight dynamics, contact modeling, sensor, perception, and software-in-the-loop simulation capabilities.
• Build scalable infrastructure for regression testing, continuous autonomy validation, mission testing, and scenario generation.
• Deploy cloud-based simulation systems for large-scale parallel testing and pilot training.
• Partner with autonomy, controls, and aircraft engineering teams to align simulation fidelity with validation needs.
• Set technical direction and mentor a small simulation engineering team while remaining hands-on.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in computer science, electrical, mechanical, robotics, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in robotics or physics-based simulation.
• Deep knowledge of numerical integration, rigid-body dynamics, contact modeling, constraint solving, collision detection, rendering, sensor simulation, and large-scale optimization.
• Experience integrating simulation environments with robotics autonomy stacks.
• Proven ability to architect complex technical systems from scratch.
• Technical leadership experience at Principal Engineer level or equivalent.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing a simulator from scratch.
• Familiarity with MuJoCo, Gazebo, Isaac, Newton, Genesis, or similar robotics simulators.
• Published research in robotics simulation or dynamics.
• Experience with robotic or UAV systems, aerospace, flight dynamics, or safety-critical autonomy.
• Experience operating cloud infrastructure for distributed simulation and testing.
