TL;DR
Assistant Management Accountant (Manufacturing Finance): Supporting inventory and cost accounting, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls within a defence and aerospace manufacturing environment with an accent on accurate analysis, ERP processes, and statutory compliance. Focus on reconciling inventory and payroll accounts, analysing production variances, preparing management accounts, and developing financial information for operational decision-making.
Location: Weymouth, Dorset, England, UK. Candidates must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and successfully complete the required level of UK National Security Vetting.

What you will do
- Manage ERP inventory processes, investigate stock movements and transfers, and complete month-end reconciliations.
- Support year-end inventory valuation and standard cost review activities.
- Prepare cost of sales, production variance, labour utilisation, and ad hoc financial analyses.
- Assist with monthly management accounts, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, payroll controls, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support budgets, forecasts, KPI reporting, statutory audits, and internal financial controls.
- Assist with VAT returns and related HMRC documentation through Making Tax Digital platforms.
Requirements
- AAT qualified or currently studying towards an AAT qualification.
- Understanding of accounting principles, management accounting processes, and financial controls.
- Experience supporting management accounting activities, preferably in manufacturing.
- Strong analytical, organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong general IT proficiency.
- Ability to work in the UK without restrictions and complete the required UK National Security Vetting.
Nice to have
- Ambition to pursue CIMA or ACCA qualification.
- Experience with ERP systems in manufacturing or production.
- Knowledge of inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis.
