Location: Portugal; remote work is indicated, with virtual or onsite onboarding depending on the employee’s location.

What you will do
- Develop and operate the Risk Engine, a core platform component for real-time transaction evaluation and risk scoring.
- Implement reusable, testable backend code and participate in code reviews and software engineering standards.
- Design and evolve distributed, microservice-based systems for a multi-tenant cloud-native SaaS platform.
- Work across the full software development lifecycle in agile teams, including production support and continuous improvements.
- Promote automation, observability, continuous delivery, and end-to-end DevOps ownership.
- Participate in recruiting and an on-call rotation supporting 24/7 platform reliability.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building Java backend software or similar.
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science or a comparable technical discipline.
- Strong coding skills and solid Computer Science fundamentals.
- Experience building high-performance, concurrent server-side code and modern web applications.
- Experience with distributed systems platforms or patterns such as Spark, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Cassandra.
- Ability to work autonomously, solve complex technical problems, and contribute ideas to the team.

- Contributions to open-source software projects.
- Experience with financial crime prevention, fraud detection, or anti-money laundering systems.
