Senior Data Engineer – Big Data & Cloud Integration

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work with up to 3 days remote per week. Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and implement features and enhancements for critical Hadoop-based data applications.
• Maintain mature systems and improve application performance and reliability.
• Contribute across the software development lifecycle, from design through deployment.
• Improve data-processing workflows using new Hadoop cluster capabilities and integrate new sensitivities.
• Streamline interactions with downstream applications and resolve technical issues for end users.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support approximately every six weeks, with on-call duties roughly every four weeks.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
• Strong expertise in Spark and distributed systems, including Hadoop, Hive, and Kafka.
• Proficiency in SQL and Scala or Java.
• Experience with Git-based versioning, CI/CD processes, Jira, Jenkins, or Bitbucket.
• High standards for code quality and a test-driven development mindset.
• Fluent English at minimum B2 level and an existing legal right to work in the European Union.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spring Boot.
• Fluency in French.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Control-M.
• Previous experience working with financial systems.
