TL;DR
R&D Textile Coloration Engineer (Textile Chemistry and Manufacturing Scale-Up): Developing and industrialising dyeing, finishing, and surface-treatment processes for lightweight, sustainable technical textiles with an accent on colour performance, quality control, and process repeatability. Focus on translating customer specifications into material solutions, scaling laboratory trials into serial production, and solving fibre, chemical-treatment, and manufacturing integration challenges.

Location: On-site in the Fribourg region, Switzerland; occasional travel to manufacturing and development partners is required.

What you will do

  • Develop and optimise textile dyeing, coloration, finishing, and surface-treatment processes.
  • Translate customer requirements into technically feasible solutions for technical textile materials.
  • Plan and conduct laboratory trials, evaluate samples, and assess colour consistency, UV resistance, durability, and colour fastness.
  • Prepare technical documentation, test plans, quality specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Coordinate sampling and pilot production with external manufacturing and development partners.
  • Scale laboratory processes into repeatable industrial production while improving efficiency, sustainability, cost, and quality control.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Textile Technology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in textile dyeing, coloration, finishing, or fabric treatment.
  • Practical experience developing or scaling laboratory processes for industrial production.
  • Knowledge of colour measurement, colour fastness, durability, and textile quality control.
  • Experience with technical documentation, manufacturing specifications, natural fibres, yarns, technical textiles, or composite materials.
  • Professional fluency in English and availability to work on-site in Switzerland and travel when required.

Nice to have

  • Background in automotive, mobility, industrial textiles, or other quality-sensitive applications.
