TL;DR

Electrical Manufacturing Engineer (Medical Devices) (Electro-mechanical systems/PCB design): Supporting and improving manufacturing operations for medical diagnostic instruments with an accent on electrical troubleshooting, production fixtures, schematics, and systems integration. Focus on investigating design failures, managing engineering changes, resolving cross-functional technical issues, and supporting regulatory, EMI, and safety testing.

Location: On-site in Norwood, Massachusetts, United States; hands-on manufacturing support is required.

Salary: $110,000–$130,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Provide sustaining engineering and continuous improvement support for manufacturing operations.
  • Test, debug, and improve electro-mechanical components, including motors, controllers, power supplies, displays, cables, and harnesses.
  • Design production fixtures and specify equipment or subsystems for new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Investigate design failures and contribute to risk assessments, hazard analyses, and FMEAs.
  • Manage engineering change orders and update schematics, PCB documentation, manuals, procedures, and component records.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Purchasing, Operations, R&D, Electrical, Software, and Firmware teams on technical issues, supply chain support, compliance, EMI, and safety testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong ability to create, interpret, modify, and evaluate schematics and system diagrams.
  • Hands-on electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience in a production environment.
  • Experience with Altium and/or Cadence OrCAD is preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site and perform extended standing, walking, lifting up to 25–50 pounds, and other hands-on manufacturing activities.

Nice to have

  • Medical device manufacturing experience.
  • Experience integrating software, firmware, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Programming experience with Visual Basic, VBA, C, or Python.
  • Knowledge of RS-232, I2C, and SPI serial communication protocols.
