Mechanical Inspector I

TL;DR

Mechanical Inspector I (Precision Manufacturing): Inspecting high-precision machined and molded parts, first articles, and incoming products with an accent on dimensional measurement, inspection planning, and non-conformance reporting. Focus on operating CMM and OGP Smartscope equipment, supporting prototype development with R&D and engineering, and maintaining quality in life-science instrumentation manufacturing.

Location: On-site in Billerica, Massachusetts, 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Working hours are 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.

Salary: $28–$32 per hour.

What you will do

• Inspect incoming products using part quality inspection plans.
• Perform first article inspections of high-precision machined and molded parts.
• Use CMM machines, OGP Smartscope, comparators, verniers, and micrometers.
• Prepare non-conformance reports for products outside tolerance.
• Collaborate with R&D and engineering on prototype products.
• Support departmental training on inspection equipment and techniques.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of mechanical measurement experience.
• Familiarity with most mechanical inspection equipment, including comparators, verniers, and micrometers.
• Above-average computer skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work on-site in Billerica five days per week.
