TL;DR
Platform Engineer (DevOps): Building and operating secure, cloud-based Kubernetes platforms and automated delivery systems with an accent on infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, and platform security. Focus on designing reliable AWS environments, troubleshooting distributed deployments, supporting ATO and compliance processes, and improving platform resilience through incident response and automation.
Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must be eligible for CUI access. Travel expectations are 5–10%.
Salary: $123,250–$166,750 USD annually, based on experience.

What you will do
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads across AWS, EKS, RKE2, and other cloud environments.
- Develop repeatable infrastructure-as-code solutions and manage automated provisioning and configuration.
- Own CI/CD pipelines, GitLab runners, build workflows, and deployment automation.
- Operate identity and access management, certificate lifecycle automation, monitoring, alerting, logging, and incident investigation.
- Improve platform security through container security, Iron Bank compliance, DevSecOps practices, and ATO support.
- Collaborate with application teams, document operational standards, participate in tier 2 on-call rotations, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters and workloads.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi and CI/CD platforms such as GitLab CI.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix administration, Docker, YAML, and cloud services including AWS EC2, EKS, IAM, S3, and VPC.
- Strong independent problem-solving skills in a remote, asynchronous environment.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for CUI access are required.
- Possess or be able to obtain DoD 8570 IAT II certification, such as Security+ CE.
Nice to have
- Security clearance eligibility, DoD experience, and work on production ATO-authorized systems.
- Experience with UDS Core, Iron Bank, C-ATO, Keycloak, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, GitOps, Flux, or ArgoCD.
- Programming or scripting experience with Go, Python, or Bash.
- AWS platform or solutions architecture certifications.
- Experience with distributed architectures, ADRs, runbooks, and engineering standards.
