Senior Vehicle Interior Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; hybrid role with on-site presence. Travel requirements include 10% domestic and international travel.

Salary: $196,000–$248,000 USD gross annual base salary, plus potential annual bonus, equity incentives, and company benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and guide hard trim, soft trim, door trim, trunk trim, and cabin NVH solutions for future vehicle programs.
• Create layouts, master sections, and package studies in 3D CAD and CATIA V6 to support production part development.
• Recommend interior trim materials and execution strategies that balance cost, quality, and premium value.
• Present interior component and investment options to leadership for program decisions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and global suppliers to identify component partners and support DFM through tooling launches.
• Use vehicle benchmarking and assembly strategy knowledge to guide component design and shingling sequences.

Requirements

• Experience in vehicle product development or engineering at an automaker or Tier 1 supplier.
• In-depth knowledge of tooling strategies for interior trim components and vehicle assembly sequences.
• Experience launching multiple vehicles through production ramp and problem-solving phases.
• Experience co-developing surfaces, panel interfaces, and clearances with studio teams.
• Strong supplier collaboration and DFM experience during tooling launches.
• At least 5 years of experience in interior trim development.

Nice to have

• Experience owning vehicle interior areas from concept through launch as a strong individual contributor.
• Experience benchmarking competitor vehicles to guide engineering decisions.
