Mechanical Resident Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Novi/Warren, Michigan, USA; hybrid schedule with 3 days of in-office collaboration.

Salary: $78,750–$115,500 per year.

What you will do

• Provide CAD and related data through GM’s Team Center database to support hirify.global engineering.
• Create and present technical proposals covering dimensions, cross-sections, and mechanical design solutions.
• Lead weekly Program Development Team meetings and track issues, resolutions, and program timing.
• Support Compartment Integration and Vehicle Performance Integration Team meetings by presenting design issues and resolutions.
• Create, document, update, and track mechanical design change requests in GM systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Experience with CAD applications such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX is preferred.
• Experience with Teamcenter VIS Mockup or comparable tools for evaluating vehicle packaging.
• Ability to manage customer program milestones across engineering, maintain clear priorities, and move open issues toward resolution.
• Ability to build trusted customer relationships and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to customers, product teams, and engineering partners.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn about projects, processes, components, vehicle architecture, and other engineering domains.
• Baseline familiarity with using AI to improve efficiency, problem-solving, and quality.

Nice to have

• Customer-facing experience with an OEM.
• Experience as a Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Design Release Engineer, or Technical Program Manager on mechanical programs.
• Mechanical or automotive engineering experience on OEM programs.
• Experience working in GM systems.
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes including metal stamping, casting, forming, plastic injection molding, 3D printing, and additive manufacturing.
