Studio Design Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Pasadena, California, United States; hybrid, with attendance at the specific location at least 3 times a week

Base compensation: $106,600–$192,700 USD annually, with bonus potential.

What you will do

• Integrate and balance vehicle models with Design, Architecture, SMT, Performance, Human Factors, and Manufacturing.
• Create engineering criteria and lead technical solutions for vehicle packaging issues while protecting design aesthetics.
• Apply DFSS methodologies to evaluate trade-offs involving cost, mass, timing, assembly, dimensional variation, and other program requirements.
• Develop packaging alternatives, space claims, and customer-focused solutions for spaciousness, visibility, occupant accommodation, storage, cargo, and access.
• Lead cross-functional surface and integration meetings, issue resolution, escalation, and Expert Team collaboration.
• Support digital, clay, clinic, and VR/MR design development; create NX models, benchmark competitors, and support Math Virtual Assessments and Synch Point reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or another relevant degree.
• 5+ years of experience in a related area.
• Understanding of engineering theory and automotive design principles.
• Experience with CAD and Unigraphics systems, plus a basic understanding of Engineering Specifications.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes.
• Ability to integrate complex systems, analyze unusual or difficult problems, work independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate initiative and judgment.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Coursework or experience in Statistics, Mechanics of Materials, Vehicle/Occupant Packaging, or Integrated Design.
• DFSS Black Belt certification.
