Sportscar Performance Engineer (Motorsports)

Location: Concord, North Carolina, United States; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 remote days. Must be able to report to the local office.

What you will do

• Guide long-term vehicle development and provide race-specific configuration, setup, and strategy recommendations.
• Analyze vehicle dynamics, simulation outputs, on-track data, rig-test data, and driver-in-the-loop results.
• Develop, prototype, correlate, and validate improved vehicle simulation and data-analysis methods.
• Prepare setup recommendations, event reports, competitor analyses, and race strategy optimization studies.
• Collaborate with supported race teams, motorsports groups, and software engineers to implement production analysis tools.
• Present findings and actionable recommendations through structured reports and follow-up discussions.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience as a Performance Engineer, Motorsports Engineer, or in a related role.
• At least one year of experience in a top-level motorsports series such as IndyCar, F1, NASCAR, IMSA, WEC, or similar.
• Experience with race car setup, event preparation, race procedures, technical inspection, race engineering, and strategy.
• Programming experience with Python, MATLAB, and VBA, plus vehicle dynamics and statistical data analysis.
• Experience with motorsports analysis software, vehicle testing, instrumentation, calibration, telemetry, and SPMM, 7-post, and on-track data reduction.
