TL;DR
Sr. Performance Simulation Application Engineering Specialist (Engine Performance, Emissions and Simulation): Leading engine strategy, performance requirements, emissions compliance, and technology development for construction equipment products with an accent on engine integration, simulation, validation, and multi-generational product planning. Focus on designing emissions-compliant engine technologies, analyzing CAN-based performance data, solving complex system issues, and guiding global technical teams.

Location: Onsite in Clayton, North Carolina, United States; five days per week in the office. Domestic relocation is available. Travel of 10–25% is expected. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $147,760–$221,640 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead engine strategy development and multi-generation technology planning for construction product lines.
  • Define engine performance requirements, including lug curves, transient response, fuel consumption, altitude, and cold-ambient parameters.
  • Develop and select technologies supporting emissions regulations, alternative fuels, and hybrid powertrains.
  • Set up and manage remote CAN-based data acquisition systems and analyze engine and emissions performance.
  • Identify technical issues, determine corrective actions, and coordinate work with engine, product, test, validation, and commercial teams.
  • Coach and mentor technical specialists globally while communicating industry trends and supporting Scope 3 emissions reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or another accredited engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of emissions regulations, engine design, development, installation, and performance engineering across multiple applications.
  • Experience with analytical thinking, root-cause analysis, problem solving, process management, and project management.
  • Experience leading engine system design, development, manufacturing, and validation in emissions, performance, or architecture engineering.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring technical teams, collaborating globally, and building relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Must work onsite in Clayton, North Carolina, five days per week; visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

  • Off-highway machine and hands-on testing experience, including cold-start, extended-ambient, or altitude testing.
  • Technical validation experience with DFMEA and DOE.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification and DMAIC experience.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, Dynasty, Power BI, Tableau, CANape, CANalyzer, Cadet, DATK, or SQL.
