Principal, Enterprise AI Platform & Strategy | Onsite San Diego HQ

Location: Onsite at the San Diego, California headquarters, United States

Salary: $132,700–$182,000 annual base salary, plus a target annual bonus of 30% and eligibility for an equity-based long-term incentive program.

What You Will Do

• Own the strategy, roadmap, lifecycle, requirements, success metrics, and prioritization for enterprise AI and machine learning platforms.
• Lead the evaluation and integration of foundation models, third-party AI services, RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector search, prompt governance, and model monitoring capabilities.
• Advise executives and cross-functional stakeholders on AI feasibility, solution patterns, architecture, risk, and responsible AI practices.
• Define and maintain AI governance frameworks, policies, risk assessments, guardrails, operational readiness, and auditability criteria.
• Drive end-to-end execution of complex platform programs, coordinating requirements, dependencies, engineering delivery, release readiness, rollout, and adoption.
• Monitor platform KPIs, availability, performance, SLOs, usage, tokenization efficiency, response quality, and business impact to guide continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in IT or related disciplines, ideally in pharmaceuticals or another regulated environment.
• Working knowledge of RAG pipelines, embedding services, LLM orchestration and evaluation, prompt governance, model performance monitoring, foundation models, vector databases, and third-party AI services.
• Experience with automation frameworks, integration platforms, reusable services, telemetry, observability, SLOs, performance tuning, platform reliability, privacy, security, and governance.
• Ability to define multi-year platform roadmaps and measurable KPIs, evaluate emerging technologies, and translate ambiguous business needs into technical strategies.
• Strong experience leading multi-team initiatives using Agile/Scrum, backlog management, milestone tracking, risk mitigation, executive communication, and influence without authority.

Nice to Have

• PMP certification or active progress toward certification.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a similar regulated environment.
• Experience driving enterprise-wide onboarding, training, and adoption of new technology capabilities.
