Data Platform Architect (Cloud)

TL;DR

Data Platform Architect (Cloud): Designing and evolving secure, scalable cloud data platforms and shared services for enterprise agencies with an accent on multi-tenant architecture, platform standardization, and AI-ready data infrastructure. Focus on building the platform from MVP to mature enterprise capability, integrating DevSecOps and security controls, and leading cross-functional initiatives through influence.

Location: Hybrid role based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with 3–4 days on-site per month. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

What you will do

• Define the target architecture and multi-year roadmap for an enterprise data platform.
• Design and operate scalable, secure, cloud-based data platforms and reusable shared services for multiple agencies.
• Build the initial MVP and evolve it into a mature enterprise capability with standardized engineering practices and onboarding patterns.
• Implement multi-tenant architecture, data isolation, IAM, RBAC, encryption, auditing, and other enterprise security controls.
• Develop AI-ready data infrastructure, enterprise data products, API-first services, and DevSecOps practices.
• Collaborate with technology leaders, security, cloud engineering, governance, risk, and compliance stakeholders while leading through influence.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and supporting large-scale cloud data platforms.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in modern data architecture, platform engineering, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, containerized applications, and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.
• Strong experience implementing IAM, RBAC, and security controls across cloud data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with modern DevSecOps practices and security integration throughout the development lifecycle.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Programming, or a related field, or equivalent experience; strong stakeholder communication skills are required.

• Experience building enterprise data platforms from the ground up and evolving MVPs into shared capabilities.
• Experience designing reusable platform patterns and onboarding services for multiple agencies or business units.
• Experience developing AI-ready data infrastructure and enterprise data products.
• Experience with API-first architectures and product-based information sharing.
• Experience evaluating emerging cloud and data technologies while maintaining enterprise standards.
