Internship Software Engineer (Data & Cloud)

Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam, Netherlands, combining home and office work. During the internship, enrollment at a Dutch university is mandatory, or at an EU university for EU passport holders.

Salary: Internship allowance of €700 for a 36-hour work week.

What you will do

• Design and implement a scalable, user-friendly request interface for data-ingestion workflows.
• Develop backend automation for validation, metadata capture, request submission, approvals, notifications, and lifecycle tracking.
• Integrate the solution with Google Cloud Platform, NiFi, Oracle or BigQuery, and existing analytics-platform services.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, platform teams, stakeholders, and the Data Science community.
• Document the solution through how-to guides and onboarding materials.
• Support user acceptance testing, implementation acceptance, monitoring, audit logging, and rollout readiness.

Requirements

• Currently studying Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science at a Dutch education institution, or at an EU university while holding an EU passport.
• Understanding of Python, Azure DevOps, Power Automate, and Oracle or BigQuery.
• Experience or understanding of backend development and workflow automation.
• Knowledge of data-platform integration, including Google Cloud Platform, NiFi, and Oracle.
• Understanding of documentation, notifications, tracking, support logging, monitoring, and audit trails.
• Independent, flexible, and proactive approach to development work.

Nice to have

• Experience with analytics platforms, data ingestion, or request-management solutions.
• Previous exposure to data engineering or cloud engineering.
