Senior Platform Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure)

TL;DR

Senior Platform Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure): Building and operating production Kubernetes platforms and the Go, Python, or Java services that extend them with an accent on platform architecture, networking, observability, and reliability. Focus on designing multi-region infrastructure, solving distributed-systems performance and availability challenges, and driving ambiguous, multi-quarter initiatives through production.

Location: Fully remote for candidates in the USA, Canada, or Latin America. Pacific Hours coverage is required from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate production Kubernetes clusters, including networking, workload isolation, service mesh capabilities, and multi-region topologies.
• Develop Go, Python, or Java services, Kubernetes controllers, operators, middleware, and HTTP, REST, and gRPC interfaces.
• Lead platform-level incident response, troubleshoot distributed systems, and implement durable fixes through root-cause analysis and postmortems.
• Define SLOs and build actionable metrics, dashboards, alerts, distributed tracing, and performance-profiling workflows.
• Own infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and GitOps delivery workflows while balancing velocity, reliability, security, and compliance.
• Plan cloud migrations between providers or environments and provide technical direction and mentorship across engineering teams.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in software, platform, infrastructure, or site reliability engineering.
• Production experience building and operating Kubernetes platforms, including Kubernetes internals, CNI networking, NetworkPolicy, resource management, and cluster behavior under load.
• Production experience writing Go, Python, or Java and designing systems from ambiguous starting points through production.
• Hands-on experience with service mesh technologies, mTLS, workload identity, Linux, Docker, and infrastructure as code at scale using Terraform or an equivalent.
• Production experience with at least one major cloud platform such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, plus relational databases including PostgreSQL or managed Postgres-compatible services.
• Strong debugging, performance-profiling, observability, communication, and independent problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go testing frameworks, Kubernetes controllers or operators, identity and access management, and high-availability or disaster-recovery architectures.
• Experience with Alibaba Cloud, Apache Spark, or Apache Flink.
• Experience with monorepos, Bazel, compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or GDPR, or LLM-backed systems running in cloud-native environments.
• Ability to read Java and additional strength in Python.
