SME Relationship Manager (Commercial Banking)

Location: Hybrid working in Cirencester or Abingdon, with at least one day per week in the office and the remaining time spent meeting clients.

Salary: Negotiable, starting from £61,344.

What you will do

• Manage a diverse portfolio of new and existing SME clients with turnover between £3m and £10m.
• Build trusted relationships and act as a strategic advisor to business clients.
• Identify and deliver tailored solutions across day-to-day banking, working capital, payments, deposits, cards, and lending.
• Win new clients and grow income, balance sheet, market share, and the wider client base.
• Engage with local business communities, internal teams, and external partners to develop opportunities.
• Support clients with ESG and Net Zero strategies while overseeing lending assessments and contingent liabilities.

Requirements

• Proven success winning new business in a competitive corporate or commercial banking environment.
• Demonstrable credit experience, including evaluating propositions and making commercial recommendations to the Credit team.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients and influential external partners.
• Understanding of commercial banking risks and effective risk mitigation.
• Collaborative approach with the drive to achieve individual and team objectives.
• Ability to work in the hybrid pattern from Cirencester or Abingdon and meet clients in the local area.
