Sr. Data Engineer (AWS Snowflake)

TL;DR

Sr. Data Engineer (AWS Snowflake): Migrating and supporting enterprise data applications from Oracle PL/SQL to AWS Snowflake with an accent on complex SQL transformations, data modeling, and maintainable data warehouse solutions. Focus on designing migration flows, validating results, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, and leading other Data Engineers through complex system modernization.

Location: Hybrid work from an office in Hartford, CT; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; or Charlotte, NC, three days per week from Tuesday through Thursday. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement is not supported.

What you will do

• Support the legacy on-premises Oracle PL/SQL application during its migration to AWS Snowflake.
• Lead application design, data modeling, process flows, source-to-target mapping, development, and validation for the Snowflake migration.
• Design maintainable Snowflake applications and document support procedures.
• Translate business problems into logical solution designs and implement efficient application solutions.
• Coordinate cross-functional IT stakeholders and external teams.
• Mentor and lead Data Engineers while promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or at least seven years of relevant IT experience.
• At least seven years of ETL or data integration experience and two years of Oracle PL/SQL experience.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex transformations, data analysis, requirements elicitation, and data modeling.
• Knowledge of dimensional database structures and data warehouses in insurance, financial services, or a related domain.
• Experience mentoring or leading other Data Engineers, managing multiple priorities, and communicating technical details to business partners.
• US work authorization without company sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, Snowflake databases, AWS cloud technologies, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Nexus, or uDeploy.
• Knowledge of Global Specialty insurance.
• Experience with artificial intelligence or relevant certifications.
