Senior Planner (Transportation)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; located in or willing to relocate to Southern California preferred

Salary: $155k–$175k annually

What you will do

• Lead and support freight and goods movement planning, statewide and regional studies, multimodal and shared-use corridor studies, safety studies, economic and financial analyses, benefit-cost analyses, grant development, policy analysis, asset management, environmental analysis, freight modeling, truck parking, resilience, transportation equity, and project implementation.
• Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to client or project manager expectations.
• Develop project delivery plans, provide direction to project staff, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff and manage project teams and subconsultants.
• Build client and teaming-partner relationships, identify future leads, and lead teaming negotiations.
• Develop win themes, teaming and pricing strategies, technical proposal content, and winning proposals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, Transportation Economics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of industry-related experience.
• 3+ years of experience managing projects and leading proposals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, Transportation Economics, or a related field.
• Freight and/or economics experience or educational background.
• Grant writing knowledge or experience.
• Experience working with transportation or economic datasets.
• Located in or willing to relocate to Southern California.
• 3+ years of experience in public-sector consulting and professional services.
• Experience leading transportation plans or studies in California as a consultant or public-agency manager.
• Strong professional network within the Southern California transportation industry.
