Senior Manager, Space Planning (Defense)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite work with domestic and international travel as required.

Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own space planning, floor plans, occupancy data, and space allocation across a multi-site portfolio of offices, labs, manufacturing areas, and shared spaces.
• Forecast capacity needs from headcount, program, and manufacturing growth and support Real Estate site and lease decisions.
• Develop test fits, stacking plans, layouts, space standards, workstation and meeting-room ratios, and lab and manufacturing planning guidelines.
• Analyze badge, booking, sensor, survey, occupancy, and utilization data to improve efficiency and reduce cost per seat.
• Coordinate moves, adds, changes, buildouts, and reconfigurations with Facilities, Workplace, Construction, Real Estate, and external design partners.
• Maintain planning databases and tools, evaluate IWMS solutions, report capacity and cost metrics, present recommendations to leadership, and mentor future space planning staff.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in space planning, corporate real estate, workplace strategy, interior architecture, or facilities planning, including multi-site portfolio ownership.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar space planning and drawing tools, including reading and marking up architectural and engineering drawings.
• Experience with test fits, stacking plans, capacity forecasts, utilization data, and Excel or similar analytical tools.
• Working knowledge of building codes, occupancy, egress, accessibility standards, and collaboration with architects, engineers, and code consultants.
• Experience planning and executing large-group moves, adds, and changes, and influencing stakeholders across Real Estate, Facilities, Construction, EHS, Security, IT, and business teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with manufacturing, lab, R&D, industrial, defense, government, or secure-facility environments.
• Experience with Archibus, Planon, Tririga, occupancy sensors, desk booking, or room booking systems.
• Experience planning international sites, supporting rapid growth or M&A integration, and working with limited existing data.
• NCIDQ, LEED, or a degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field.
• Eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance.
