Senior Data Engineer (Microsoft Azure)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal — hybrid, with 2 days per week in the office and 3 days remote.

Salary: €6,500–€7,000 net per month, including fixed and variable compensation, meal allowance, remote-work allowance, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and build end-to-end cloud-native data architectures covering ingestion, modelling, storage, orchestration, and analytics.
• Develop scalable data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and related cloud data services.
• Implement data warehouses, data lakes, validation, lineage, documentation, and monitoring at scale.
• Optimize data pipelines and storage solutions for performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.
• Apply DevOps and DataOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and engineering standards.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and communicate technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on cloud-native solutions and data architecture.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, data warehousing, and data lake technologies.
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and/or Spark, including experience with data libraries such as Pandas or Boto3.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience with DevOps/DataOps, CI/CD, data quality, lineage, documentation, and monitoring.
• English proficiency at minimum B2 level and availability for a hybrid schedule in Lisbon are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or equivalent cloud data services.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake, Delta Lake, BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift.
• Experience with Medallion Architecture or similar data architecture patterns.
