Data Engineer (Domain Data)

Location: 100% remote in Portugal, with optional access to offices in Lisbon and Porto.

What you will do

• Deliver actionable domain datasets and data models as reliable data products.
• Build, maintain, and improve scalable Lakehouse pipelines using Medallion architecture.
• Support decentralised data solutions and product integrations across engineering and product teams.
• Promote data mesh, privacy-by-design, data literacy, and effective data platform adoption.
• Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, analysts, data scientists, and regional business partners on end-to-end data projects.
• Develop specialised skills and agents for agentic data engineering systems.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience building complex data pipelines and delivering data projects.
• Advanced SQL skills and the ability to write efficient, maintainable Python applications.
• Experience with Medallion architecture, scalable storage and performance design, and data quality practices.
• Experience with cloud data technologies such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Redshift, Spark, Trino, Iceberg, or Airflow.
• Business and product understanding, stakeholder management, and the ability to translate KPIs into technical requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal English proficiency required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Monte Carlo or Great Expectations.
• Familiarity with Claude Code, Cursor, AI agents, and other big data technologies.
