What you will do
- Design, architect, and manage development of Layer1 software features for networking hardware.
- Develop and maintain software in C, C++, and Python across forwarding engines, connectors, PHYs, transceivers, and gearbox chips.
- Build instrumentation, telemetry tools, automated tests, and test infrastructure for physical link health and reliability.
- Collaborate with customers, product managers, hardware, optics, manufacturing, and system test engineers to define, launch, troubleshoot, and improve Layer1 components.
- Own projects from definition through deployment and customer interaction while ensuring delivery quality, scalability, and performance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor new and junior engineers.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience with a BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
- Knowledge of UNIX or Linux and applied software engineering principles.
- Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills, with the ability to independently design and implement solutions.
- Experience working with low-level hardware components and the ability to collaborate effectively in small teams.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of digital communication technologies, including modulation and signal encoding schemes.
- Understanding of IP networking and distributed systems.
