What you will do

• Design and own booking and integration architecture for direct provider connections and GDS-based integrations.
• Lead the transition toward a direct-first integration model to reduce reliance on legacy infrastructure.
• Take end-to-end ownership of integrations from technical design through production and documentation.
• Incorporate AI tooling and modern engineering approaches into architecture and development workflows.
• Collaborate with product, operations, and partner teams to drive technical decisions and resolve ambiguity.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to the technical direction of the broader engineering organization.

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience with a track record in complex distributed systems.
• Familiarity with travel industry concepts such as booking flows, PNR, ticketing, and fare structures.
• Experience with GDS platforms (Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport) or direct integrations (NDC, AFOP).
• Proven experience building and maintaining integrations with external APIs or third-party systems.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be based in Berlin and able to work from the office 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Background in SOAP-based web services or legacy system modernization.
• Experience with fraud and payment systems in a booking or e-commerce context.
