What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs supporting data ingestion, processing, and distribution.
• Build and maintain reliable data ingestion pipelines for structured and unstructured data from various sources.
• Optimize scalable data platforms, including databases, data lakes, metadata catalogues, and storage solutions.
• Develop reusable frameworks and tooling to simplify onboarding new data sources and increase productivity.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems and orchestration workflows.
• Collaborate with software, infrastructure, and data engineers to deliver high-impact technical solutions.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience building production backend systems in financial services.
• Professional experience developing applications and services using Python within the financial industry.
• Proven experience designing RESTful APIs and maintaining large-scale data processing systems.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
• Experience with AWS, containerized applications, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Location: Must be based in Berlin, Germany

Nice to have

• Experience working in a Commodities Trading House or Hedge Fund.
• Experience with FastAPI or similar modern Python frameworks.
• Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and cloud-native architectures.
