Senior Data Engineer (Google Cloud)

Location: Düsseldorf, Germany, with flexwork options including up to 30 days working abroad from Germany in specific countries.

Salary: Approximately €80,000 annually.

What you will do

• Define and evolve the architecture, standards, and roadmap for the Google Cloud data platform.
• Design and deliver reliable, high-performance data pipelines and cloud-native data products.
• Establish data quality, governance, testing, monitoring, and operational excellence practices.
• Mentor engineers through coaching, code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
• Lead complex technical challenges, production incidents, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Drive modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development with quality, security, and reliability controls.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing and operating scalable data platforms and distributed data systems in the cloud.
• Deep knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, and modern warehouse or lakehouse approaches.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud services including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, and Dataflow.
• Experience with data orchestration, transformation, and testing using Airflow and dbt.
• Ability to define technical direction, influence architecture, communicate clearly, and mentor engineers.
