Principal Data Platform Product Manager (Pharma)

Location: Onsite at the San Diego, California headquarters, United States

Salary: $132,700–$182,000 annual base salary, plus a target annual bonus of 30% and eligibility for an equity-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of data platform capabilities spanning discovery, multi-omics, imaging, chemistry, pre-clinical, and clinical data.
• Translate business and scientific needs and BRDs into SRS documents, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications.
• Own product roadmaps, backlog governance, prioritization, and delivery alignment with business value.
• Partner with engineers on solution design, data models, integrations, and implementation of scalable platform capabilities.
• Embed data governance, security, lineage, and regulatory requirements including GxP, HIPAA, and 21 CFR Part 11.
• Bridge scientists, business analysts, data engineers, MLOps, compliance stakeholders, and delivery teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 6+ years of technical product management or product ownership experience, or a master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Deep expertise in pharmaceutical discovery, pre-clinical, and clinical workflows, including multi-omics, laboratory instruments, chemistry informatics, and biomarker analytics.
• Experience mapping detailed workflows, authoring SRS documents from BRDs, writing granular epics and user stories, and leading agile delivery as a Product Owner.
• Strong technical knowledge of modern data platforms, including Databricks lakehouse, cloud data pipelines, data catalogs, and governance tools.
• Demonstrated delivery of complex data initiatives in regulated GxP environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect technical, scientific, business, and compliance audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, data mesh principles, semantic layers, LIMS, ELNs, or scientific computing tools.
• Advanced degree or relevant certifications.
• Background in AI/ML enablement for research or translational science.
