Platform Engineering Team Lead (GCP/Kubernetes)

Location: Hybrid role requiring at least three days per week onsite at the Victoria, London office, UK.

Salary: GBP 100,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a pod within a 10-person platform engineering team while driving technical initiatives and engineering standards.
• Improve developer experience through self-service tools, streamlined local development, and GitOps deployment workflows.
• Build and enhance platform automation, tooling, and operators.
• Architect, manage, and scale multi-regional Google Kubernetes Engine environments across Standard and Autopilot clusters.
• Integrate security and compliance controls into engineering pipelines in collaboration with the security team.
• Improve reliability through global load balancing, disaster recovery, cloud-native databases, telemetry, and participation in the on-call escalation rotation.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform and high-availability, multi-regional infrastructure.
• Advanced experience with modular, scalable Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and GCP Config Connector.
• Proven experience managing and scaling Google Kubernetes Engine, including Standard and Autopilot modes.
• Strong understanding of Zero Trust access, security perimeters, Cloud Armor, and Global Load Balancers.
• Strong Bash scripting skills and the ability to develop structured automation tooling with Go or Python.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, prioritization, and technical leadership skills.
