What you will do

• Architect, design, and manage Layer1 software features from definition through deployment.
• Develop and maintain control software using C, C++, and Python for PHYs, transceivers, gearboxes, and other interface components.
• Build instrumentation, telemetry, automated tests, and test infrastructure to monitor physical link health and validate features.
• Collaborate with customers, product managers, hardware, optics, manufacturing, and system test engineers to bring new connectivity capabilities to market.
• Analyze customer and system-test issues, troubleshoot network problems, and deliver scalable performance improvements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor new and junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS with 8+ years of experience, MS with 6+ years, PhD with 3+ years, or equivalent experience in computer science or engineering.
• Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux and applied software engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and software troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to independently design and implement solutions and work effectively in small teams.
• Experience with low-level hardware, digital communications, IP networking, or distributed systems is advantageous.
