GSOC Response & Policy Program Specialist (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; hybrid work with all staff expected to be in an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time. The role includes 24/7 on-call rotation, evening, weekend, and holiday availability. Visa sponsorship may be available depending on the role and candidate.

Salary: $180,000–$230,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Author the GSOC plan and policy, including functions, severity matrices, communication templates, and response service levels.
• Design global incident-specific protocols and create operator and business-facing playbooks.
• Establish scalable on-call rotations, call trees, incident response tooling, and employee advisory channels.
• Coordinate incident escalation and handoffs to Incident Commanders while serving as the liaison between GSOC and Crisis Management.
• Partner with Legal, Communications, HR, Employee Relations, and senior leadership to secure alignment and approval.
• Deliver training and rollout, run tabletop exercises and after-action reviews, and measure program performance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in GSOCs, security operations, emergency or crisis management, business continuity, incident command, or a closely related field.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
• Experience authoring security, safety, or emergency response policies that were formally approved and adopted.
• Experience serving as an Incident Commander or in an equivalent command role during live incidents.
• Working knowledge of ISO 22320:2018 or an equivalent incident command system such as ICS/NIMS, plus severity or tiering frameworks.
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and respond after hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice to have

• Experience establishing a security operations center or incident response program from an undocumented state.
• Familiarity with mass notification, critical communications, and incident management platforms.
• Experience with travel risk management, duty-of-care programs, and natural disaster response.
• CEM, CBCP, PSP, or FEMA ICS certifications.
• Specialized knowledge of risks unique to the AI sector.
