Principal Staff Engineer, AI Platform Research, Data Science (Remote)

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $195,000–$290,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility, equity grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect, implement, and optimize exabyte-scale data platforms and pipelines for LLMs, neural networks, RAG, and AI agents.
• Drive the adoption of agentic workflows and agent harnessing for autonomous, data-driven security features.
• Build scalable, fault-tolerant, cost-effective, and production-ready data services with rigorous testing and monitoring.
• Establish data modeling, semantic cataloging, MLOps, and DataOps practices for AI/ML workloads.
• Mentor engineers through workshops and design reviews while providing hands-on technical leadership.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and engineering teams to productionize research prototypes and own services end to end.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of Data Engineering or Platform Engineering experience, including 3+ years building AI/ML or data science platforms at massive scale.
• Hands-on experience with LLM engineering, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, deployment, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Experience designing large-scale distributed systems involving sharding, partitioning, and concurrency.
• Expertise in at least one of Python, Go, Rust, or JVM technologies, plus experience with cloud, containers, streaming, distributed processing, and data orchestration tools.
• Prior Staff-level technical leadership, mentoring experience, secure AI-assisted development, and strong software engineering practices.

Nice to have

• Experience in cybersecurity, intelligence, or high-compliance industries.
• Open-source contributions related to data or AI/ML.
