Lead AI Systems Engineer (P5)

Location: Remote within the United States.

Salary: $190,000–$220,000 base salary plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, roadmap, and implementation of a shared internal AI platform for Engineering and other business functions.
• Build reusable agents, tool interfaces, retrieval layers, workflow runners, evaluation harnesses, observability, permissions, and auditability.
• Integrate AI into coding, code review, CI/CD, testing, deployment, incident response, onboarding, and knowledge workflows.
• Develop AI-assisted quality systems for E2E and integration testing, regression detection, failure triage, and intelligent quality gates.
• Connect AI workflows to repositories, CI systems, documentation, issue trackers, operations tools, and internal dashboards.
• Set standards, documentation, reference implementations, and adoption metrics while partnering with Engineering, Product, Design, and Operations.

Requirements

• Staff-level or equivalent platform and cross-functional impact, with continued hands-on coding.
• Experience shipping end-to-end production AI systems, including agents, tools, retrieval, evaluations, integrations, and operational controls.
• Strong programming fundamentals in Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Experience building internal platforms, developer tools, or automation integrated with CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience with coding agents, LLM APIs, orchestration, production operability, APIs, permissions, observability, and reliability.
• Ability to define roadmaps, communicate clearly, and drive adoption across multiple teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic workflows, evaluation harnesses, RAG, knowledge systems, or operational workflow automation.
• Fintech or regulated-domain experience.
• 0→1 platform ownership at a growth-stage company.
