TL;DR

ERS-NETA Electrical Testing Technician (Electrical Testing): Testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical power distribution systems and switchgear in field-service projects with an accent on medium-voltage equipment, relay systems, power metering, and technical supervision. Focus on performing power system studies, preparing detailed reports and project estimates, and solving complex equipment-labeling and electrical testing challenges.

Location: Onsite in Dallas, Texas, United States; 50% travel required, including out-of-town and international travel for up to several weeks. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

What you will do

  • Test, troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain electrical power distribution systems and low- and medium-voltage switchgear through the 15 kV class.
  • Calibrate simple relays, operate load-recording instrumentation, and troubleshoot power metering and electrical systems.
  • Perform simple power system studies, including short-circuit and protective-device coordination analysis.
  • Prepare detailed project reports, process billing, and develop estimates, scopes, pricing, and client proposals.
  • Provide technical supervision on projects and contribute to business development and expansion.
  • Complete equipment-labeling analysis in accordance with industry standards, local requirements, and company procedures.

Requirements

  • BSEE or BSME with no experience, or an applicable electrical technical school or military equivalent with at least three years of relevant experience, or high school education with at least four years of relevant experience.
  • Passed NETA examination and strong experience testing switchgear through the 15 kV class.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, OSHA, NFPA, and other industry standards.
  • Good theoretical understanding of electrical power systems and strong computer skills, including computer-controlled test equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 100-pound test sets.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
