Software Development Engineer III (C++/Satellite Communications): Design, implement, and validate MAC control-plane software for TeraWave satellite communication links with an accent on radio-resource allocation, scheduling, QoS, mobility, and predictable-latency wireless networking. Location: Greater Seattle Area. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.
Salary: $207,416.00–$290,381.70 base pay for California and Washington applicants; other site ranges may differ.

What you will do
- Design, implement, and test MAC control-plane software for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint satellite links.
- Develop TDMA, demand-assigned access, admission control, scheduling, radio-resource allocation, QoS, flow-control, and link-adaptation components.
- Implement protocol state machines for link establishment, maintenance, reconfiguration, teardown, fault recovery, and mobility between beams, satellites, and gateways.
- Integrate MAC software with PHY implementations, modem hardware, networking data planes, telemetry systems, and hardware-accelerated functions.
- Build simulation, testing, and performance-analysis tools for mobility, fading, congestion, timing variation, and failure scenarios.
- Diagnose and resolve software, protocol, timing, and system-integration issues through design, code review, hardware integration, qualification, and deployment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Four or more years of software-development experience in wireless networking, communication systems, embedded systems, or high-performance networking.
- Proficiency in C or C++ and concurrent or timing-sensitive software in Linux, real-time Linux, or RTOS environments.
- Experience implementing communication protocols, protocol state machines, resource schedulers, flow-control mechanisms, or QoS systems.
- Experience developing and debugging software interfacing with hardware, embedded platforms, networking systems, or communication devices.
- U.S. citizenship, national status, permanent residency, refugee status, or asylum status is required due to export-control regulations.
Nice to have
- Experience with MAC or link-layer software for satellite, non-terrestrial, cellular, fixed-wireless, or related communication platforms.
- Knowledge of TDMA, DAMA, OFDMA, radio-resource management, adaptive modulation and coding, ARQ/HARQ, admission control, or QoS scheduling.
- Experience integrating software with PHY implementations, FPGAs, DSPs, modems, or custom SoCs.
- Experience with multithreaded, asynchronous, event-driven, simulation, or high-performance packet-processing technologies.
